10 miles a week

So my new goal is to try and run 10 miles a week.  My Sunday 5k in Reston, VA went well!!! I'm not sure of the official bib time but when I crossed the finish line, it said 36:02 or something.  However I didn't start and cross the starting line until at least 20 seconds once the race started.  My mapmyrun app said I ran 3.3 miles at 36:04 roughly as it takes me about 5 seconds to turn it off.  I'll take it!

It wasn't as flat as they advertised as a lot of runners, including myself, took a short walk break up the 2nd mile section.  I heard someone say, "this hill is hard!".

Yesterday I managed to run exactly 2 miles before it started to rain and my average pace was 10:55 which I'm trhilled about! I'd like to do a 5k under 30 minutes.  Baby steps.  Then I did zumba that evening.

Tonight I'm doing Zumba, tomorrow strength, and Thurs and Sat I'm going to aim for 3 miles each day. Maybe by Sat I'll just do 2? But my goal is to run 10 miles a week.  We shall see!

Next week I'll take it easy as I have my third race this month on the 18th.  Then I won't be doing races for a while as they're in DC or VA Beach, which is too far.  I was considering one in MN when I'm there next month, but we'll see.  In June-Aug it gets really hot and humid in VA.  At 10am it can be mid 80's!! And I really don't want to run in that heat.  So I hope they do more 5k's late summer/early fall!

Next year hoping to do a 10k!
