I'm so relieved to report that Boogie's stools are firm again!! After about 8 months the poor guy can do his business without a splatter mess. I felt so bad for him :(
When I brought him to the vet last summer for the stool issues, I actually found out that his thyroid wasn't working right, and that loose stools is often a symptom of thyroid issues. So of course as you know, he had Radiation and that fixed the thyroid issue and he has since gained the 4-5 lbs he lost! But the stools were still a mess. So we tried Forti Flora for 10 days, nothing. Then Metranidazole 250 mg for 5 days, nothing. Finally the vet said before we try Tylon, let's change his diet even though he was on excellent food: Blue Buffalo Sensitive.
WOW!! It works!! Of course I have to change their feeding as I'm not letting Fido eat the prescription Purina EN food. He would be fine eating it but $40 for a 10lb bag? Not going to happen!! So he's eating the rest of the Blue Buffalo and I'm switching him to Purina Sensitive since he seems to be getting tired of Blue Buffalo. Oddly enough the food is cheaper at my vet compared to many online retailers by a good $7!!
I'm so relieved and I bet Boogie's bum is too!
